abstract = "The variation geomagnetic activity during the last four solar
cycles has been observed through the geomagnetic indices. In
particular the mid-latitude index Dst, available since 1958, has
been analyzed, by means of diverse statistical approaches. This
index allows one to identify and classify by their intensity the
geomagnetic storms that have occurred in this interval. The
occurrence of magnetic storms, for a given intensity threshold and
for different phases of the solar cycle, has been associated with
the possible interplanetary causes by using data obtained from
several satellites (i.e. WIND, ACE, IMP).",
